Movie Review: Jurassic World

For Father's Day my kids took my out to see  Jurassic World  - well, to be fair they took me out to see it twice, first for an early matinee that had been sold out, and then to a later matinee we could get seats for - and considering this was a movie that came out a week ago, that was pretty surprising!

The film is quite a lot of fun, action, dinosaurs and scares - but not -gory (although some of the scares are pretty intense!), the story is a lot of fun, and honestly, this should be seen on the big screen.

Of all the films, this falls just beneath the original, but I definitely preferred it to both the second and third films.  It also had an awful lot of fun tie-ins with the original film.

Go see it!

Happy Early Father's Day to me!

As my eldest daughter is spending June in France for summer school, she decided to take me to The Duchess - a fancy bakery here in Edmonton to celebrate earlier.

Even though we got there as it opened, the line up was pretty crazy so I saved us a table while she got us coffee and baked goods.

She ended bringing me a bunch of macarons, as well as some sort of berry custard tart thingy - very tasty (and pictured to the right).

Although it wasn't officially Father's Day, it was a really nice way to hang out for it ahead of her trip, and the baked good were delicious!

Things I've Noticed: Father's Day is coming!

So we've got three days to go until Father's Day, and as my two lovely daughters are beyond the macaroni-pictures-coated-in glitter-phase, I'm kind of interested to see what they've got in mind for me.

As a dad who loves Horror, SF and Fantasy, I m hoping they've got a lot of options of things they can send my way.

I don't want to get into specifics as that may alienate whatever they have already decide, but I will say that no Dad was ever unhappy with higher necklines and longer skirts - you know, when I was a young man the most interesting thing we looked for in ladies was a shapely ankle, so, you know, longer skirts can still be considered a daring choice.

Also turtlenecks are great.

And Parkas.

Have I mentioned how much fun it is to have two teenaged daughters?
